Well, tickets for Flock Fiber Fest are on sale again! This is the fourth year for the festival in Seattle and I am looking forward to another year. I don’t think I have any friends flying in as in past years so it will just be local friends but they aren’t as bad of enablers so maybe I will save a little money. I am trying to keep my stash down, or so I say.
One of the things I have loved about my knitting in the last few years is blending it with other things I love, like the outdoors. When I saw these colorways at the festival in 2024, I just had to have them. My friends and I had decided to knit the same pattern and our goal was to find 5 minis that could be used. I had thought I would be looking for minis at a variety of vendors but once I saw these, it was a done deal.

The dyer is Hailey Bailey of Salem, Oregon and her yarns are filled with colorways inspired by nature.

She even added pictures of the flowers she used for inspiration!

The pattern was the Bubble Bandana by Stephen West and we all agreed that we REALLY hate the bubble stitch (and so many ends to weave in).

Thankfully this was a small project and I could tuck the ends into the I-cord edges as I went.

Try as I could, it was still a little rolly after blocking.

But it is so fun to wear as a pop of color with outfits!

Here’s a pic of last year’s knit along with minis purchased at Flock, another stitch we all agreed we didn’t need to do again. In fact, the person who suggested the pattern gave up without finishing. I’m glad I finished because it turned out so fun but definitely won’t be a repeat project. The minis match the speckles in the main color, Wafflecakes by Lolabean Yarn Co.

For my fiber friends, do you attend fiber festivals with fellow knitters? How do you commemorate your weekends?
