My favorite places to stop post hike with friends are: Grilla Bites, Route 2 Taproom and Grazing Place, Good Brewing Company, River House Cafe, Espresso Chalet, Gustav’s, Yodelin’s Broth Company, South, Dan’s Food Market, or just Pack A Cooler. You can learn more about these places in my Must Hike Must Eat Eating Out Guide.
Find out current conditions and as always, practice Leave No Trace. Pretty please.
Hike details:
This is a short interpretive trail just off US Route 2 near Stevens Pass with views of the cascades of Deception Creek as it flows through a series of boulders and canyons. For a much longer and secluded ramble, check out the Deception Creek Trail just a bit east.
My trip report:
7/2015
Some hiking friends and I (including my mom) visited the Deception Creek Falls after walking around the Iron Goat Trail for a little variety. The trail leaves the paved parking lot and gently wanders down to cross the creek and several viewpoints.
Be careful if you choose to view the falls from the overpass if the parking lot is full. There have been tragic accidents of people falling over the cement barrier.
Directions: Take US 2 east to milepost 56 past the town of Skykomish. The parking lot entrance is on the north (left) side of the highway. There are toilets and picnic tables and room for about 20 cars. Please do not block US 2 if the parking lot is full, you can go visit this lovely hike instead with less people.
