This summer I wrote an article for the Washington Trails Association about what it means to hike in our later years, the benefits of hiking as we age and how to make sure we can keep hiking as long as there is a passion to do so. It was really fun to put together and interview folks who have been hiking for 40, 50 and even 65 years!
Hiking isn’t just for the young, it is an activity that all ages can participate as long as we follow some simple guidelines that make it safe and enjoyable. I, also, talk about local groups one can join if they are just now thinking about taking up hiking and want to have knowledgeable hikers to go out with or are in need of new hiking partners that move at a pace that is right for them.
I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I loved writing it.
