Hikes into Southwest Washington & Columbia River Gorge, from south of Mount St. Helens down to the Columbia Gorge outside Portland, Oregon are on the lower end elevation wise (except for Mount St. Helens itself) but have some of the most amazing outdoor adventures to offer, often without the crowds you find closer to Seattle. One of my best friends from college and now good hiking buddy lives down in the Portland area so we go hiking every time I visit. Which seems to be more and more often these days.
My favorite places to stop post hike with friends are Fargher Lakehouse, Crush Cider, Walking Man Brewery, Backwoods Brewery, Thunder Island Brewing, Cascade Locks Ale House, Farm Stand Natural Foods, Dick’s Primal Burger, Back To Eden Bakery, or just Pack A Cooler. You can learn more about these places in my Must Hike Must Eat Eating Out Guide.
Find out current conditions and as always, practice Leave No Trace. Pretty Please.
