This week’s Nature Writing Challenge comes to you with just 20 minutes left to write so you are going to get some pretty amazing pictures instead! The topic is “Where is your favorite gateway town outside America’s public lands and what makes it so great?” Any memorable experiences?
Well, if you just finished reading my Pacific Crest Trail journey in 2013, you know that Stehekin, Washington, tucked in a notch of the North Cascades National Park, is my absolute favorite trail town. Hands down.

If you have been to Stehekin, do you agree it is the best gateway town? Do you have one you that is your favorite?
