Having lived in Snohomish County for over 38 years now, I have to say I can’t imagine a better place to reside. The mountains to the east, water to the west and a quick hop up or down I-5 to almost anywhere. I have a book by Ken Wilcox, Hiking in Snohomish County, that I have been working on for more than a few years now. Having mostly grown up around here, many of the hikes are ones I did as child hiking with my family. Plus, I hate to drive to hike so I am more likely to choose a hike in my backyard! There seem to still be so many more to find and explore, and several that are no longer maintained. That seems to make it all the more fun.
Some of my favorite places to stop post hike are Glorybucha in Snohomish at Dairyland for a kombucha flight and River Time Brewing in Darrington for a thirst quenching cider, KFresh in Everett for a powerful bibimbap bowl or Good Brewing Company for steak salad and homemade coleslaw. LJ’s Bistro and Bar near Frontier Village is a little upscale but has tantalizing happy hour fare and the Creekside Alehouse & Grill close to downtown Lake Stevens has great pub fare (including a savory Steak & Bleu Cheese salad) plus pool tables. So many choices. You can learn more about these places in my Must Hike Must Eat Eating Out Guide.
As always, check current conditions and practice Leave No Trace. Pretty please.
