I have over 13.5k pins on my account over at Pinterest. Do you know the ONE pin out of ALL of them that is repinned by someone EVERY day? This one:
No lie. This one comes in second for consistency of being pinned:
I have been collecting pins for the design of my next tattoo, one I hope to show my passion for hiking. I have been tossing around different ideas ever since I got my last tattoo 10 years ago. I love the flow of this one:
And the simplicity of this one:
I have a long scar on my wrist from where I fell head first backwards into Delate Falls by the beautiful Spectacle Lake between Snoqualmie and Stevens Pass on the PCT in 2013 that I would love to accent with a tattoo. I love the script and last line of the verse on this:
There are just as many ways and reasons that people have gotten “inked” to show the world (or themselves) the things they are most passionate about as there are people. The art, the story, the emotion. I love this article about the Psychology of Tattoos, but I’m not sure there is a need to think that hard about it.
“Tattoos are a conversation starter. Either there’s a story attached or a “skin”-showing session or an emotional response derived from the sight of ink art. And the emotional response from the sight of tattoos leads to a modern-day version of social branding.”
It is fun to see all the different kinds of tattoos that people get to commemorate their hikes or love of hiking and being outdoors. Or some special event, person, place or thing.
Do you tattoo? Do your tattoos have stories or do you get tattoos just for the fun of having them? If you don’t tattoo, how do you show your passion for hiking or the great outdoors? Or whatever you are passionate about?
Editor’s note: this post lost all it’s Pinterest screenshots in a website overall of 2023. You can find the tattoos I mention in this post on Pinterest itself.
