As I prepare to return to work tomorrow, today is filled with laundry, meal prep and paying bills.
We spent the last 4 days on the southern Oregon coast taking in the sunshine and coastal views. I wasn’t mentally ready for the chilly mornings but thankfully I had packed enough layers for when I reluctantly left my sleeping bag to venture out on a trail.
Today is December 1st and we are headed towards the longest night of the year (or shortest day). I am hoping to fill the days with time outdoors, yoga and an countdown of scripture and intentionality. I pulled out the stockings and holiday mugs today and watched an online sermon for the first Sunday of Advent.
I have already walked through holiday lights courtesy of Nature’s Coastal Holiday: Festival of Lights and lost a few hours to some Christmas movies.
All in the search for HOPE.
And JOY.
Anything to abate the crush of 4pm sunsets.
So look for some upcoming posts about our time in Oregon (and other adventures) and I hope that you are also preparing your own self-care strategies (holiday related or not) as we venture into the darkness of winter.

Thanks for the reminder about self care during this often over busy season. And to remember to reflect on the meaning of the holiday.
You are welcome, Meg. I think we can often get caught up in the busyness and lose sight of what is important (including ourselves). I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
