Have you heard of the Wolf Camp and Conservation College out of Puyallup, WA? It is run by Chris Chisholm and Kim McKillip, two people with a love for nature and the outdoors. They have a variety of programs for folks of all ages to learn more about conservation, sustainable living and traditional crafts and survival skills.
Their mission statement reads:
Wolf Camp and the Conservation College are transformational outdoor experiences. We will empower participants with the skills and wisdom to competently and intimately connect with the natural world.
They post their classes on Meetup and that is how they caught my eye. One of these days I would like to take this one: Paleo Lifestyle Workshop. It’s put together with Clay and Ragan Masterson, known in the area for their expertise in the nutrition, Crossfit and paleo cooking skills. Who wouldn’t want to spend the day foraging, cooking, and playing outdoors? Their next class is March 10th!
Here are just a few examples of the classes they offer:
Apr – Backcountry Navigation & Leadership
Apr – Wildlife Safety, Awareness, Tracks & Trails
Apr – Understanding Birds and Their Voices
Apr – Wolf Trackers Conservation Training
May – Tracking the Teanaway Wolf Pack
May – Wilderness Survival with Bow Drill Fire Making
May – Wild Edible Plants & Herbal Medicine Making
May – Edible Seaweeds & Shellfish of the Salish Sea
June – Subsistence Shore Fishing: Piers, Rivers & Lakes
