The last few years we have been visiting Bend, Oregon more and more, often in the winter months. Bend, Oregon has exploded as an outdoor recreation mecca in the last few years, especially because drier temperatures mean less seasonal blues. But don’t be fooled, its proximity to places like Mount Bachelor mean there is plenty of snow to play in.
At the end of 2020 on a road trip, we woke up to blue bird skies and wanted to do some snowshoeing. Not being as familiar with the area, I used Oregon Hikers to do a little research and found Paulina Creek Falls about 34 miles southeast of town.
Not only was this easy to get to because it starts at a Sno-Park, it offered miles of possible trail to explore. And the bonus? This area is also a part of the Newberry Caldera National Volcanic Monument!
