I was so excited to come home today and see my latest delivery from Thrive Market on the front porch a day early! I had realized that I had used up the last of my 100% cacoa powder stash on Saturday and placed an order, luckily before this whole business of sheltering-in-place happened.
And as I was opening the box in the kitchen, I remembered that I had started a post for you on the online shopping resource Thrive Market and what I love about them and this seemed like the perfect time to get it out to you in case you were looking for somewhere to get your favorite healthy foods without leaving the house.
I do not remember exactly how I heard about Thrive Market’s online store for healthy foods, beauty items and household products but I am going to guess it was a popular paleo or wellness blogger I was following at the time. There were several who signed up in the beginning to help the small business grow and they are now “partners” in the shopping resource that has grown to over 6 million registered users.
But enough with the famous people, let me tell you why I have been shopping with Thrive Market for healthy foods and every day household items since 2015.
What Is Thrive Market?
From their website:
Thrive Market is a membership-based online shopping club on a mission to make healthy living easy and affordable for everyone. For less than $5 a month (only $59.95 annually), Thrive Market members can buy the best-selling healthy foods and wholesome products in everyday sizes, always 25-50% below retail prices.
For me, Thrive Market has been how I have been able to find paleo products at good prices when my local stores have not carried them yet. It is also where I find out about new paleo foods and more wholesome household goods I want to try for myself. Take Miracle Noodles, for example…
How Thrive Market Works
So this is how it works: you simply register for free and enjoy a 30 day trial. If at the end you decide to join, you pay the yearly membership fee. It is that easy!
Products are typically marked down 25-50% and there are usually so many deals I have to be careful because my cart fills up fast. You can even order from their app and set up Autoship so you never run out of your favorite items.
The website allows you to search by your own dietary needs, whether it is paleo, vegan or keto. It even saves your purchases so you can easily add them to your cart again. This tends to be things like vitamins for me which I order regularly. Chocolate is a vitamin, right?
What I Love About Thrive Market
Aside from the deals on my favorite foods and products, Thrive Market has a few other bonuses.
Thrive strives to send your orders in the least and most environmentally packaging possible. The boxes are standardized and use paper padding except for liquids which they put in resealable plastic baggies you can reuse. Everything is 100% recyclable and their shipping facilities are zero waste and carbon-neutral, too!
Another mission of Thrive Market is offer free memberships to families in need that wouldn’t normally have access to healthy products. Now, I know that just because you have the membership doesn’t necessarily make the shopping affordable to a family in need. But for those families who could afford it but the fee is a barrier, it is a definite incentive.
And, if you live in an area of the country where healthy foods or products like these are not available in the stores close to you and that is your barrier, Thrive Market helps to make those foods more accessible. I love that!
How Much Does Thrive Market Cost?
The annual membership is $59.95 and if you don’t save that much during the year, the difference is added in Thrive Cash to your account for the next year you sign up. Basically, they guarantee you will always save as much as your membership each year so it really is no risk in spending more than you usually would for these products.
You get 25% off your first order and for every membership they sell, they offer a free one to a family in need who has applied on their website. Delivery is free with orders over $49.95 so that is what I always do!
I’m a thrifty shopper and having been following a paleo lifestyle now for over 8 years which means I have become quite proficient at finding deals on the foods I love. Over the years many have become more readily available at my local stores but not always at prices I am willing to pay. I have saved an average of about $100 a year so far and I am not a HUGE online shopper.
The foods I order from Thrive Market are ones that I know I can’t find for a better deal at regular prices near me so it makes sense to purchase them online. Plus, buying exactly what I need means one (or two) less trips to the store where I might pick up things I didn’t have on my list originally.
Plus, the price is roughly the same as a Costco membership and who bats an eye at that fee? With Thrive you get all wholesome products, speedy delivery, regular-sized packages and know you are giving back to the community.
How Long Does Thrive Market Take To Deliver?
Normally, I can place my order and it will be delivered in about 3-4 days. I am always surprised at how little time it takes for their orders to turn around and arrive on my porch, things are normally shipped the same day as my order.
Of course right now with all the things going on in the world, they have been swamped with orders because no one is leaving their house. So, my latest order took an extra day or so and the website says orders are now taking 7-10 days longer. The word is out…
They have even had to stop taking orders briefly to let the warehouse catch up. It sounds like the shipping time is the same, the delay is in the warehouse as they navigate current challenges to keep staff safe and guarantee popular items are in stock.
But rest assured, it will most likely be back to its normal times after people realize there will still be food in the stores despite the pandemic.
What are some of my favorite things to order from Thrive Market?
