One of the blogs I mention on my Favorite Outdoor Hiking Blogs page is She-ra Hikes by Renee Patrick. She is a Triple Crown long distance hiker, consultant and raft packer who has been spending the last few years on the Blue Mountain Trail and Oregon Desert Trail in Eastern Oregon and advocating for the Oregon Trails Coalition.
She is also known for her We Are Hiker Trash Instagram account and Hiker Trash company. We have chatted at the Pacific Crest Trail Days in Cascade Locks several times over the years, a very down-to-earth person!
She has been dealing with some health issues* that have kept her off trail the last few months but in her down time she has created at virtual map of the 413-mile Oregon Coast Trail that I’d love to share. I have mentioned the trail that covers the Oregon Coast from Astoria to the California border a few times on the blog, most recently on our Southern Oregon Coast road trip.
I don’t know if I see an entire thru-hike of the Oregon Coast Trail in my future but I do love day hiking it on trips along the coast. It has a bit too much road walking for my arthritic feet, I’ll stick to the sections that avoid pavement.
Please head over and check out the story map Renee created as well as her blog, you will find all kinds of hiking inspiration. If you enjoy it, she is taking donations towards the Oregon Trail Coalition, as well!

*A few hours after posting this, Renee’s friends shared on Instagram that Renee was just diagnosed with multiple tumors throughout her body after having an emergency surgery to remove a vertebrae that had been ravaged by one of them. They have set up a Go Fund me to support her if you feel called to donate.
