It’s hard to believe that 2018 is coming to an end and it is time to reflect on my favorite hikes of the year! With all the craziness of getting married and changing jobs, I know I didn’t get out as much as I would have liked to but I think that only made the times I was able to all that more special.
Here is a list of my most memorable hikes in 2018, for the entire list you can check out my Latest Trip Reports page. I hope they inspire you to get out in the year to come!
Yellow Rock
This was our first stop on our honeymoon to the Southwest and of course, we started it off with a wee bit of a scramble instead of taking the trail like everyone else…
Lakeshore Trail
We visited the lovely North Cascades National Park via the Lakeshore Trail for my hubby’s 50th birthday, it was a stunning walk in…
Goat Peak Lookout
A few weeks later we were up in another area of the North Cascades to celebrate our daughter’s wedding…
Mt. Aix
The first big hike of the season as the snow had receded from the Mount Rainier area, the views were amazing…
Putrid Pete’s Peak and Mason Lake Loop
Just a fun little loop exploring a popular hiking area off I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass. A bit of a scramble to the ridge, we just nearly beat the rains on our way around the loop…
Mount Ruth
I helped lead a scramble with the Everett Mountaineers to a summit so close to Mount Tahoma (Rainier), it felt like I could reach out my hand and touch her…
Elfin Lakes and The Gargoyles
A truly memorable hike to Garibaldi Provincial Park north of Vancouver, I can wait to go back and explore more…
Grand Loop-Olympic National Park
My annual backpacking trip with my friend Elizabeth, this hike was both strenuous and stunning as we made it up and down multiple passes and along a brief section of the Pacific Northwest Trail.
Sauk Mountain
Not a new hike but one I did for my birthday this year, making it to the true summit with my family.
Falls Creek Falls Loop
Another hike with Elizabeth, we enjoyed this misty day and a series of waterfalls in the Washington side of the Columbia Gorge that did not stop.
Happy New Year and I wish you many outdoor adventures in 2019!
